With this piece i took a departure from pencil rendered work and used instead Deleter Drawing Inks. The piece is two posters in one, weather your with Kirk or Cumberbatch denotes which face is upright and which quote is in the centre. Deleter Inks and Daler Rowney paper were used in this pieces production.

My newest piece. Oblivion. Made with Faber Castell pencils, Winsor & Newton Inks and Daler Rowney 110gsm paper. My idea was to merge the drones and the destroyed Moon into one focal point while incorporating the Drones and Bubbleship’s HUD readouts. And as normal with my work I went with a nice and clean type with an uncluttered layout.

The Marvel Comics character Cyclops has been through a huge change recently. From the stubborn and strong leader of the X-men, through a power crazed mutant corrupted by the Phoenix Force to the Face of the New mutant revolution but with no control over his powers. I wanted to produce a set of pieces focusing on Cyclopses visor and the change its gone through in the last few months. The style is simple and minimal, Red ink for the visor and black to show the facial structure. The pieces were produced on heavy weight Daler-Rowney paper along with the inks made by 'Deleter' and 'Pelikan'

Mithril miniatures, world leaders in Middle Earth and Lord of the rings Minetures commissioned me to produce a 30cm by 30cm section of the map of Middle Earth along with an ornate header and footer, elvyn script and Dwaven Runes. For there new website the piece had to have the look and feel of Tolkiens own illustrative work with out copying his exact style. The job was a complex one, going through many phases of concept, design and build. The piece was produced on Crescent Scanner board using an array of Stabilo and ShinHan pens.

With the excitement surrounding the newly announced Star Wars movies i decided to illustrate my own piece of Star Wars art. Something which (even with my life long love for the saga) i had never done before. With Vader as the backdrop i set up a group of the movies best known bounty hunters (Dengar, IG88, Boba Fett) surrounded by some of said characters iconic spacecraft. The piece is based straight after Fett acquires Solo from Vader on Bespin and begins heading for Jabba the Hutt, Fett, realising the true value of his cargo goes into hiding from the empire and other hunters wanting to forcibly remove Solo from his hands. The piece was illustrated on Medium weight paper with Faber-Castell pencils. Final graphics and cleaning up of the image where done using photoshop.

This is my A3 Akira piece created using pencils and drawing Inks. Based on the iconic 80s manga comic and animation i wanted to focus my design on the character Tetsuo and not Kanada. Kanada has always been the face of the manga classic but to me is not the lead character and can sometimes overshadow Tetsuo's place in the story. The design was originally going to incorporate many more characters and vehicles from the animation. However i decided against this soon after starting the piece as i wanted to keep the focus on Tetsuo and not crowed the piece with faces and objects.

A piece produced after playing the latest Halo video game Halo 4. The quote is from the Peter Gabriel song 'Here comes the flood', it fitted so well with what the Flood are all about in the game so i decided to incorporate it into the piece.

This piece was inspired by the most recent Bond film 'Skyfall'. I tried to incorporate both his past and present in the piece. The Deer being his childhood in Scotland and the London underground Antlers being his present life in london and one of the major events of the movie of pursuing 'Silva' across the city. the poster was hand drawn on A3 paper and cleaned up in Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Since April 2011 i have been in charge of producing the event advertising for Chaos City Comics, an independent hobby store specialising in the american comic book industry as well as role playing games and other related fields. I was asked to produce posters that where clear and easy for people to understand as well as eye catching. With some year long events such as Dungeons and Dragons i kept a theme running throughout the posters as a way of linking all the D&D events together to produce a timeline of related pieces. As the campaign changed i would adjust the poster to link with the event while keeping the overall style of the poster the same. These pieces have all been planned and produced by hand before being completed in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

With a new year comes the new look Luke Ridge Illustration. This time i didn't want any overcrowding to occur, i designed a much cleaner and simpler card showing my details and the skills i can offer. The ring of colour gave the cards a little individuality and a focus point for the reverse of the card. The ring shows a small sliver of illustrative or design work as an incentive for interested clients to head to my website to see my whole portfolio.
